Our Favorite Aboriginal Art Gallery Outside of Australia

The ReDot Gallery

Our Favorite Aboriginal Art Gallery Outside of Australia . The ReDot Gallery is everything you would hope to find in a gallery - selection, knowledge, friendly help and a willingness to spend time with you to answer all your questions without acting superior.

'TJUKURRPA PUNTU NGANANA PALYANI - WE ARE MAKING STRONG STORIES'

The ReDot Gallery was packed with old and new friends on the evening of Wednesday 11th November for the official opening of the 6th Papunya Tula Artists Singaporean Show.

The show was opened by Mr. Paul Sweeney, Art Centre Manager for the Papunya Tula Artists, who travelled from Alice Springs for the event. Mr Sweeney shared his knowledge acquired in 14 years working closely with the artists experience with ReDot guests.

Papunya Tula is considered the birthplace of the Contemporary Aboriginal Art movement. Today artists live mostly west of Alice Springs, in the communities of Kintore and Kiwirrkura but the art centre name derives from a settlement located 240 northwest of Alice Springs, where few senior Pintupi men first register their cultural knowledge to ramble school walls in the early 1970’s.

Papunya Tula works are highly sorted after by private and public collectors all around the word and it is the most successful Indigenous owned business in Australia since its establishment in 1972. They are considered the benchmark for Australian Aboriginal Art due to its strong cultural content and fine execution.

We were happy to have many newcomers on show and learn from Mr Sweeney that the Papunya Tula legacy is getting carried into a new century with the growing number of talented young artists joining the ranks.

Some of the wonderful pieces were snapped by lucky art lovers during the evening and many more found new homes in the days following but we still have some gems available.

Make sure not to miss this important event. The exhibition runs till Saturday 12th December 2009.

NEW ARRIVALS

ReDot just got reinforcements!

After the successful opening of 'Tjukurrpa Puntu Nganana Palyani – We are Making Strong Stories’,
ReDot received a new block of Papunya Tula works which I painstainkingly hand picked off the Papunya Tula Gallery floor earlier this year.

Consisting of mainly small sized pieces by Papunya Masters such as Ningura Napurrula, Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula and Nancy Nungurrayi and few younger "new talents", these are perfect as a 'First Papunya Tula' artwork.

They will not last long so check the
ReDot website or run down to ReDot to see these exciting additions to our stock.
